Sweet Summer

June 16, 2011

Oh sweet summer how glad I am you are here!  We had a busy day today but a day I can look back on in pictures and only smile.  This morning, our big kids started out by sleeping in.  They needed it!  When big girl got up, Langston couldn’t wait to crawl up in her lap and cuddle with her.

I love that he loves his big sister and I love even more that she lets him love on her.  They are really sweet together, most of the time.  :)

Seriously, that picture melts my heart!  Jeff actually took this picture and I don’t know that there are words that describe how this picture makes me feel.  ”Blessed” is all I can think of.

A couple of hours later, two of my best friends, Kelly and Audrey, and Kelly’s daughter, Hadleigh, came over to play with us.  Riverson and Hadleigh are 13 days apart and I see lots of play time in their future, especially since Kelly is a teacher and off for the summer!  :)

Little miss Hadleigh makes this face on occasion that I absolutely LOVE.  She crinkles up her nose and makes this little sniffing sound. It’s seriously adorable.  I was so thankful that big brother E, who was playing photographer, caught it on camera.  Just look how cute she is!

It was so fun to have the girls over to play even if it was just for a short time.  I never get enough time with my girlfriends and I’m so glad we have babies to share with each other.

After nap time, the boys and I headed over to a neighborhood friend’s house.  The big kids were playing with their friends in the neighborhood and we had a little bit of time to ourselves.  Our friend, Mollie, and her daughter, Claire, were hosting a little Father’s Day finger painting play date at their house.  This was the first time Langston has ever finger painted and I was a little nervous, especially since it was at someone else’s house.  Fortunately, I stripped his shirt off.  It was a little messy but the end result was so cute.

I even got Riverson to do his own little creation.  Man, I had no idea getting a 7 month old’s handprint would be so hard.  :)

When we got home, H saw what the boys had done and remembered something she had made for her daddy several weeks ago.  We decided that we are not the most patient people, so Langston and H gave Daddy his cards.

Needless to say, Daddy was pretty happy with his new artwork and I think I see more finger painting in our future.  :)

Tomorrow, we leave for Jeff’s family reunion in Oklahoma.  We do this every year and the kids look forward to it all year long.  It’s lots of fun and this will be a first for Riverson.  I know he will love it just as much.

If the rest of our summer goes just as well as today did, I can’t imagine how much fun we are going to have!!
