On Cloud Nine

February 24, 2012

I kept a little secret from you all for the past few days, even from some of my close girlfriends.

On Wednesday, my friend told me about an inexpensive sonogram she had with her two boys at 16 weeks to determine gender.  After doing a little research, I liked the price and called to make our appointment.

The lady said they were open on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.  I was kinda hoping she would say, “Can you come this afternoon?  We have an appointment available.”

But, she didn’t.

So, I made the appointment for this morning, instead.  I was so excited……until yesterday.

Yesterday, I started getting nervous.  I did NOT want to be disappointed and I felt like I spent the whole day having little conversations with God, basically about my heart.

I’ve wanted a little girl my entire life.  I was a little sad when I found out Riverson was a boy.  However, I absolutely adore watching two brothers play and learn together.

I didn’t want to be sad again if we learned of a baby brother, and I asked God to help me accept the news with gratitude, whether it be boy or girl.  I just knew that this was my very last chance to have that little girl.

Well, that dream is about to become a reality.

It’s a girl!

I’m grinning from ear to ear as I type this post.

This picture I pinned a long time ago will be attempted.

I still can’t believe it.

I get to do bows, ruffles, lace, precious shoes, etc.  I could go on and on.  My sewing machine and I are about to get serious.

I’ve always wanted to have a baby with bows the size of their head.  I just think it’s precious!

During our sonogram, the girl was showing us the profile, hands, and feet, and all the while, I was thinking, “Ok, get to the goods.  I need to know.”

She made some sweeps around the “area” and I kept seeing a white dot in the “middle”.  It looked just like a little penis.

She said, “Are you ready to find out what you’re having?”

I said, “I think I know.”

She said, “You do?  What do you think it is?”

I said, “A little boy.”

She said, “It’s a little girl.”

Jeff, my mom, and I all yelled out in excitement.  Tears rolled down my cheeks.

That girl made my whole day.

I’m so blessed.

I really am on Cloud Nine.

{Even more so when I got home and realized my friend had delivered my girl scout cookies.}  Hehe!

Congratulations and best wishes for a safe delivery. I wanted a girl too. So much so; my dear husband was sure when I delivered our last son I was going to jump out a window or something because it was another boy. But no, I loved my son the same as if it was ‘my’ girl. I was never to have a daughter. Medical reasons I was only able to have 2 sons. But the Lord blessed me a few years ago with a grand daughter. My sewing machine was smoking with the things I made for her. Now, the Lord has blessed me again because that grand daughter loves to sew too. More time to spend with her giving lessons in quilting.
May the Lord bless.
