Our Living Room

I’m linking up with Kelly’s Korner for the Show Us Your Life link up she does every Friday.  This week is all about living rooms.  I thought about not linking up because I don’t really LOVE how my living room looks.  There are so many things I’d love to do differently, but it just takes MONEY! :)

Nevertheless, the main reason I keep this blog is to capture moments of our life.  I DO want to remember what our living room was like during this season of our life, though, so here we are.

Our furniture came from Jeff’s dad.  As a matter of fact, a lot of our furniture pieces are hand-me-downs, but I’m okay with that.

I’d like to brighten up the colors of the room with some lighter pillows.  Maybe after baby girl gets here and we’re finally finished paying baby bills, I can get a decorating budget going.

See that deer head?  Well, how can you miss it?  Jeff and I had quite the disagreement about that thing.  I really don’t have any interest in using deer heads to decorate, but he was just so proud of that big thing.  He told me, “I don’t take part in ANY of the decorating you do!  Let me have this one thing.”  Obviously, I gave in.

My favorite part of our living room is probably our gallery wall.

I love looking at pictures of our family!  Our big family picture is missing a family member, so it’s obviously not current, but it’s my favorite one we’ve taken.  Maybe once baby girl gets here in August, we can get a good picture of the 7 of us.  Yes, SEVEN!  Whoa!

This wreath was actually made to be on our front door last fall.  I kinda like it above our mantle.  You can see the post about that wreath here.

See my little buddy back there in the doorway? :)

The other corner of our living room.

Yes, that is a stadium chair.  It’s from the old Texas Ranger stadium and it’s signed by Nolan Ryan.  My aunt and uncle gave it to me.  It’s honestly one of my most prized possessions. :)  We’re big sports fans and I’m a little bit of a tomboy! ;)

And the constant reminder of the season of life we’re in.  The toy corner! :)  Before I was a mom, I always said I wouldn’t have toys in the living room.  Yeah, that was dumb. :)

And there ya have it!  That’s a picture tour of our living room.  I’m looking forward to seeing other living rooms in the link up.  Hopefully I can get a few ideas. :)

And, if you have a blog, take some pictures of your living room and go link-up!  Last time I linked up, was with this post.  I made some great friends with other expecting moms.

Most of our furniture is hand me downs as well. Sometimes I feel fortunate to not have had to spend a lot of money on furniture and other times I wish I could just go out and choose something new.

I LOVE the stadium chair. That’s really unique.

And we just moved to a slightly bigger house and have no toys in the living room for the first time ever! It’s soooo exciting to me :)

  6. I am in love with your coffee table/ottoman/whatever you call it! It’s so kid friendly. We have a toy corner as well :P

  7. So thankful for your encouraging words today and thankful to have swung by here. I just had to chuckle at the deer head. Girl – we’ve had a few deer heads, bobcats, skins, etc . . . after moving around in the military for 20 years you can imagine how ragged they looked even though we had them shipped “special” each move. Once we retired I just had to say, “Babe those things have got to go.” Most are gone, but there is still this ONE deer head hanging in our garage. How creepy is that? Men???

  9. Beautiful. You have such a warm and cozy place!

I especially love the “R” on the wall. I have my initials on mine and there’s something about them that just stamp ‘home’ on my place.

    Great, great pics!

  10. Hand me down furniture is the best! Your gallery wall is so great, and I love, love, love your Arlington Stadium seat. I have some great memories of watching baseball there as a little girl until they built the Ballpark in the 90s. And one of my prized possessions is a Nolan Ryan signed ball. :)

  11. I like your living room a lot. I could sit there, comfy, and just visit for an hour or two. And the first part I was drawn to was the gallery wall. It’s lovely. I also really like the desk; the stadium chair is totally cool!

Don’t worry about the deer. My dad was a hunter, so I grew up with all sorts of animals hung on our walls. I turned out okay, your kids will, too. I think it’s wonderful that you let him have it (which is easy for me to say because my husband isn’t a hunter and I don’t have any heads on my walls).

Thanks for sharing your living room. Have a great weekend. Stopping by from SITS.
