I’m linking up with Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop again this week to respond to this prompt:

4.) Instagram fun! Share a photo you took with Instagram this week and tell us what you love about it.

I love this picture because this was one of my favorite times of the week.  I got to have a few hours of “girl” time with my friend, Amy, in a sewing class.  You might remember seeing pictures of Amy if you read my post about our decision to have baby girl in the birthing center.

In our class, we were learning how to make T-shirt dresses.  I’ll be honest with you.  When Crystal, my friend who teaches the class, sent out the information about the class and said something about making “the very popular t-shirt dress” I had to look up what she was talking about. :) I guess that just shows how much I have to learn about the girly terminology over the next 17 weeks.

To answer the writing prompt, there are several things I love about it.

  • I love that I’ve grown to love my sewing machine and get excited when I find a new project and pretty fabric.
  • I love that I’m learning how to make cute clothes for my little one and can be proud when I see her in them.
  • I love that I’m making my own mom proud!  She sewed all of my clothes for me when I was a baby and she always hoped I would take up the hobby.  I guess it just had to be in my own timing. :)
  • I love that I have great friends who enjoy doing the same thing!

I can’t tell y’all about this t-shirt dress and then not show you the final product, right??

I learned how to make that little flower, too!  So fun!

I’m pretty sure I’m addicted to this little sewing hobby I’ve started!

Baby girl won’t be able to wear this until next summer but don’t think I won’t be excited about her wearing it until then! :)

And Amy?  I almost hate showing you her dress because her stuff always looks perfect, but I will. :)

Can’t wait for our next class!Visit Jamie Roubinek’s profile on Pinterest.

  1. Oh Jamie, you make me laugh! It was a fun night. Be glad you’re learning all of this now rather than waiting until baby girl is nearly 3 years old, like I’ve done. :)

I think you did a FABULOUS job! Sewing has to be almost like a therapy…I’ve always wanted to try it, but never have.

    Pretty motivating here.
Carrie´s last blog post ..I’ve apparently been really busy doing a lot of nothing this week. What a shock.
