S’more Firsts and S’more Fun

With 4th of July this week and Jeff’s birthday, we’ve been spending a lot of time outside as a family and looking for great things to do together.

We knew the boys would LOVE having a sweet treat and what better sweet treat to have outside in the summer time than a S’more???

I remember eating s’mores at camp when I was a kid and always wondering how I could recreate it at home.  The truth is, it’s hard to do, which is probably why it’s such an adored activity for all ages.

We pulled our fire pit out, set it up next to the pool, and went to work on creating a fire.  Well, Jeff went to work.  The boys and I stood back and oohed and aaaahed as the flames got bigger and bigger.

As our fire was finally ready, Daddy prepped our clothes hanger skewers for the marshmallows.

The boys both got a chance to roast their own marshmallow and they had no idea of the deliciousness they were in for….

until I showed them!

They each got to eat some and they. were. LOVING. it!  This pregnant mamma may have loved that sweet treat just as much as them!

A part of me almost felt bad that we’ve held out on making s’mores until now!  The smiles on their faces were pretty neat!  I’d say this chocolate face is the sign of making great memories!  Wouldn’t you??

If they learned nothing else from our experience, they learned that Daddy knows how to build a great fire and Mamma knows how to EAT!
