I never imagined that my playgroup girlfriends and I would be so excited about a sewing class, but it happened.  I guess it comes with the territory in this stage of our life.  {I’m so amazed at how much we change as we get older.} :)

This past Sunday, 6 of my girlfriends brought their sewing machines over to my house and we gathered around my dining room table with our fabrics and supplies.

We were having a class on ruffle pants led by a friend of mine from high school.  Crystal started sewing clothing a few years ago and even started her own boutique.  She has made embroidered burp cloths, t-shirts, and Easter clothes for my babies.  As a matter of fact, she was one of the first to know about my pregnancy with Riverson since she made the “Big Bro” shirt Langston wore when we told our big kids.

I’m very excited to see Crystal start teaching people everything she knows about sewing!!  She’s very talented and has just recently started a Facebook group for people who are interested in 3 hour sewing classes to learn different projects.  The name of the group is Boutique on a Budget Sewing Classes.  “On a budget” is right!  The classes are only $25!!

After three hours of laughter, fun, and learning, I was feeling pretty empowered that I had actually created a piece of clothing for my little girl to wear!!

These will fit next spring and in to the summer, hopefully.

As proud of my pants as I am, mine are actually a little boring.  My friends used two different fabrics and all of theirs turned out soooo cute!  I’m going to do coordinating fabrics next time I make a pair.

I’m addicted now and can’t wait to make another pair.

We’re making t-shirt dresses a week from tonight and we have some home decor sewing projects planned soon, too!!

If you’re in the DFW area and think you might want to attend an occasional 3 hour sewing class, let me know and I’ll add you to our Facebook group.

This plastic bag holder got me started and now I can’t wait for my next project.

My mom has waited a LONG time for me to find interest in this hobby. :)

Jeff loves it because it’s another way for me to save money! :) Visit Jamie Roubinek’s profile on Pinterest.

  1. Too cute! I’d love to know more about her classes. So far, I’ve only done pillow covers on my new machine but need to learn more than that.
